Holiday Gift Guide 2013

holiday gift guide

This post is sponsored in part by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Koss.

Can you believe we’re already almost a full two weeks into December? Where has the time gone?!

If you’re still not finished with your holiday shopping, you may be getting a bit frantic. Not to fear, I have created a list that will be perfect for the active and health-conscious people in your life!

Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle

Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle: Transform Your Body Forever Using the Secrets of the Leanest People in the World by Tom Venuto. I had the opportunity to take a look at the revised edition of this awesome book before it was officially released yesterday and immediately started learning so much. Not only have I lost pounds on the scale, my body composition has shifted. This is a must-read for anyone who wants information about all the components that go into sculpting a trimmer physique. Food, fitness, it’s all here!

Koss Fit Series headphones. These are the perfect gift for active women! I have to be honest that normally I don’t put much thought into headphones because I’ve lost so many pairs I tend to just go with whatever pair is cheapest, but after trying both the FitBuds and FitClips, which are designed for women by women, I realized how different headphones can be.

The FitBuds are sweat resistant and 33% smaller than any other earbud Koss has ever created. They also come with three different sizes of ear cushions. The FitClips fit snugly (but not too tight) behind the ear for a fit that stays put.

I wore them while doing sprint intervals and they were super comfortable. They’re also sweat resistant and come with three sizes of ear cushions. Both the FitBuds and FitClips normally retail for $29.99, but select retailers are offering them for $19.99 this holiday season. Those retailers include Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Walgreens, Kmart, and Sears. These are a must buy!

Running Like a Girl: Notes on Learning to Run by Alexandra Heminsley. I received this book from the publisher a few months ago and zipped through it in no time. While I didn’t fully identify with Alexandra’s story at first, the further she delved into why she became a runner, what it was like to run her first marathon, and how her running changed after that, I realized the story was very similar to my own. It inspired me in so many ways and I truly believe it is a book every runner should read, and more than once! I plan to read it again and know I’ll likely get something different out of it each time I read it, depending where I am in my own journey. Get it for any runner or aspiring runner in your life.

Sparkly Soul Headband. I first started using Sparkly Soul headbands last April and haven’t used any other kind since! Designed by sisters, a marathoner and triathlete, they are the only headbands I’ve ever used that stay on without budging through everything. When I ran my marathon in the pouring rain last May and wore my purple Team in Training headband, I didn’t have to adjust it a single time. Now I collect them in all sorts of colors because short hair or long, I love to coordinate them with my outfits both when I run and when I’m just out on the go. Get them for anyone who could use a little sparkle in her (or his, if he’s into glitter and headbands) workout!

Ninja Ultima Blender Plus (BL830). I won one of these at the Healthy Living Summit in September and it is just incredible! Not only does it do everything I need it to for my protein shakes (my fresh fruits and veggies are chopped completely and my shakes are totally smooth), it’s so versatile! For Thanksgiving I used it to make a cream cheese frosting that came out wonderfully and the recipe book includes sauces and dips that I can’t wait to try. The option for making single serve recipes is perfect for me because then I can just pop on one of the travel lids and go. Or I can use all the blades for chopping and smoothly blending large recipes. Plus, it’s cheaper than a Vitamix!

These are just a few of my favorites that would make fabulous gifts this holiday season. The sure sign of a great gift is when the recipient would have bought it for themselves if you hadn’t given it to them. Even though many of these items were provided to me free of charge by publishers and brand campaigns, each and every one is something I would buy with my own money, which is why I know your health-conscious and on-the-go loved ones will love them too!

What other items are on your holiday list this year?

Which ear buds do you like better? the ones that wrap around or the ones that just go into your ear? I’ve been wanting to get some, but don’t know which ones will be more comfortable!

I love them both, but I like the FitClips best. It really surprised me because I had never used the wrap-arounds before and thought I’d find them annoying, but the clip is super comfortable and I love that I don’t have to worry about them moving around or coming out while I run or lift.

Thanks for the headphone suggestion…I’ve been looking for a pair that doesn’t fall out from sweating/high intensity workouts. And I’m glad to hear the wraparounds worked because I’m also always concerned that they’ll be uncomfortable. Thanks!
