Healthy Living Summit 2012: My Agenda

You guys, I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about something. The Healthy Living Summit (@HLSummit) is this weekend in Boston! I likely wouldn’t have signed up if it hadn’t been in Boston, simply because I was so new to blogging and the wellness sphere when registration opened. I’m incredibly happy that I did and I can’t wait for everything that is in store for the weekend!

Today an email went out to attendees with information about all sorts of events that will be happening, starting as early as Thursday. That’s just two days away! So I went through and started scheduling everything I wanted to do. Sadly, I can’t do it all, but I’m going to try to do everything I can.

Thursday, August 16 -

8:00pmJ.P. Licks Mini Mingle prior to the weekend’s official start. Originally I thought I was going to miss this because of CrossFit from 7-8pm, but with all the workouts happening this weekend, I decided to reschedule my CrossFit class and meet up with blogger friends (and friends to be) for a cold treat!

Friday, August 17 –

12:30pmZumba Fitness class! I was originally going to do the morning conditioning class and the Whole Foods Mini Mingle, but I opted out of both for different reasons. As for the morning conditioning, I wanted to limit myself to just one workout that day at the summit because I’ll have a training run to do as well and I love Zumba! That helped make the decision for me to skip the Whole Foods mingle, but so did my budget. I think I’ll just have lunch at home prior to Zumba and go easy on my wallet.

2:00pm – Check in! I can’t wait to check in, get my swag, and meet everyone I haven’t already met yet.

2:30pm – This kicks off the afternoon session, for which Derek Flanzraich is a guest speaker. Funny little tidbit, I went to college with Derek and had no idea what he was up to these days! I can’t wait to hear everything he’s been up to and how he started Greatist. There are also Blogging Workshop Open Hours, from which I think I’ll really benefit.

4:00pmPhoto Walk Mini Mingle. Yes, I know I’m local and have lots of pictures of Boston already, but I love walking and taking pictures and I love making new friends. Why wouldn’t I do this?

7:00pm – Cocktail party at the Hyatt. I don’t imagine I’ll stay the entire time (it lasts until 10pm) because I have to be up super early the next morning for a long run. Still, I bet this will be crazy fun!

Saturday, August 18 -

5:45am – Meet at the Hyatt for an 8-mile run. Yes, 5:45 is what time I’m supposed to be at the Hyatt. Since I’m not staying there, this may be a bit difficult, but I’m going to do everything I can to make it. I don’t usually run with people, but I think some pacing and motivation will be just what I need.

8:00amWild Harvest Breakfast, introductions, and summit opening

9:35amCrossFit WOD with Reebok – This is one reason I don’t mind canceling my Thursday evening CrossFit session. Having already done CrossFit once this week and still a newbie, I think this will be plenty.

10:45amBlog Photog Basics – I’m sure this isn’t news to any of you, but my photos suck. Sure, I need a new camera, but there’s more to it than that. Hopefully this will make them a little more bearable.

11:35am – Blog Design Bootcamp – Similarly, I have been wanting to give my blog a face lift and am not sure where to start. With any luck this will help turn my ideas into reality.

12:25pm – Lunch break! Who wants to get food with me?

1:30pmGet in the Kitchen: Product and Recipe Development – This is the keynote presented by Wild Harvest and should be a lot of great info!

2:25pm – Newbie Q&A Session – Now that I’m looking at this all laid out, am I going to too many newbie things? What do you guys think?

3:10pm – Afternoon break and workout with Drink Chia! I have no idea what this will entail, but I’m excited regardless.

3:30pmThe Fuzzy Grey Areas of Blogging – Having just taken my ethics course for Mental Health Counseling earlier this summer, I’m interested to learn more about the ethics of blogging and pursuing a career in this field so I can see how easily they are reconciled. Super important!

4:20pm – Closing Remarks

5:30pmULTIMATE BOOTCAMP! If you guys have read virtually any of my other posts, you know about my love affair with Ultimate Bootcamp. I did it for a month just before I started the blog and it was one of the things that made me realize that I really am cut out for a life of fitness. Nothing about this summit could have been more exciting than to see I’ll get to participate in another Ultimate Bootcamp class (I’ve had scheduling issues and haven’t been able to sign up again for a month-long session). I can’t wait!

Sunday, August 19 -

8:00am – 5K Fun Run/Walk – Pretty much self explanatory, right? Let’s hope the weather holds out!

9:00am – Farewell brunch and Roundtable discussion. It’s kind of sad to even type that. I can already tell this weekend is going to be whirlwind, but I couldn’t be more excited. How many times can I say excited in one post?

If you’ll be at the Healthy Living Summit, how does my agenda compare to yours? Are you interested in meeting up sometime before, during, or after the summit to talk shop? I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and am happy to give any sort of transportation, sightseeing, or any other kind of advice if you’d like. I may not have been born here, but I’ve learned a thing or two in the past 7 years. :-)

See you all at the Hyatt!

I wouldn’t worry about going to “too many newbie” things. I think you should just go to what fits you best at this point in your blogging career. I will see you in the Blog Photog session :) !

Looks like you have some great plans! So looking forward to this weekend, and hoping I run into you. I’m similarly in love with Ultimate Bootcamp– they are just the greatest. Got me hooked on morning workouts and pushing myself a bit harder. :)

It’s funny, when I first started Ultimate Bootcamp you had just finished your first and I had read some of your experience before deciding to do it myself. :-) I wish my schedule would allow for me to do it again. Maybe eventually!

So glad I came across your blog before HLS. It looks like we will be attending many of the same things…starting with some ice cream tomorrow!

Yay! Also, as much as my logical mind already knew that was tomorrow, my heart skipped a beat when I read that–out of pure excitement!
