Back to Reality

Hello, everyone! I’m back in Boston and therefore back in the real world. Las Vegas is definitely not real life. First let me say thank you to my wonderful guest bloggers while I was away. If you didn’t get a chance to check them out, make sure you do. Angela, Erin, Amalia, and Kelsa all wrote awesome posts; thank you all SO much!

I had originally planned to write up a blog post while I was on the plane yesterday so you would all have a brand new one from me first thing this morning. That obviously didn’t happen. Instead I was feeling overly tired and cranky on the plane, but couldn’t sleep (I can never sleep on planes). By the time we landed in Newark we walked immediately onto the next plane and before I knew it we were back in Boston. We got home around 11pm, ordered dinner (still on Vegas time and hadn’t had time to eat on the plane or in the airports), and then went to bed.

This morning I woke up in what should have been plenty of time to get ready and get to work, but I wasn’t counting on waking up to a winter wonderland. By the time I showered and dressed, dug out my car, and managed to navigate through all of the traffic filled with people who have apparently never seen snow, I was late to work. As much of an inconvenience as it was, at least it was pretty! This was my view as I walked ran from the garage and into work.

The bulk of my day has been spent catching up on work and emails, with a quick break at lunch to pay bills and set up my Arbonne website (you can now order directly from me by clicking the link).

While I haven’t yet even touched my photos from Vegas, I promise to have a recap (or several) very soon. Tonight I have class followed by dinner with a former coworker and then putting in some orders from my most recent Arbonne business launch. With any luck careful planning I’ll get in the bed early enough to get up tomorrow for a good workout before work. I definitely need to get back on track sooner rather than later.

Speaking of getting back on track, some of you know that I’ve been thinking for a while about doing a detox/cleanse to start the year. When I originally started planning it, I hadn’t even heard of Arbonne, but once I tried the products (and incidentally fell in love with them) I decided that their detox plan is the one I’m going to use. I will be using their 30 Days to Feeling Fit kit starting on February 1 and would love to have some of you join along in the journey. Let me know if you’re interested or if you have any questions about the products.

feeling fit kitIn addition to using the Arbonne Essentials products (including protein powder, fit chews, energy fizz sticks, detox tea, and fiber boost), you are encouraged to cut out dairy, refined sugar, alcohol, gluten, soy, and caffeine. I’m going to be honest and say I’m not sure I’ll cut out caffeine 100%, but I’ve already started cutting down to prepare my body for the change. Fingers crossed! I also will definitely not be cutting out soy because, as a vegetarian, it is one of my primary food sources. I will, however, cut out processed soy and stick with tempeh for the most part.

Doing the detox in February seemed perfect to me because I need to recover from Las Vegas and my birthday (which is coming up this Saturday!). The catch with doing it in February is that it means no desserts or alcohol on Valentine’s Day (and I sure do love my wine). Still, I’m sure I can manage. I even looked up recipes for gluten free cookies to make on Valentine’s Day and got lucky with a vegan recipe that uses agave nectar. That means no dairy, gluten, or refined sugar! Score! I found the recipe on Yummly and they sound perfect (Double Chocolate Mocha cookies). I’ll let you all know how they turn out or if I end up making something different.

One more announcement and then I’m off to class (yep, real life is back with a vengeance). I will be running a feature called New Year, New You over the next several weeks. I like the idea of starting the feature a few weeks into the New Year, because I think that is the time many of us start to lose sight of our New Year’s resolutions and goals.

For this feature I have recruited people in all different stages of their fitness journey from those who are just getting started this year to those who are seasoned veterans of healthy living to everything in between, you’ll get to hear all about their goals and progress. If you’re interested in being featured, send me an email. I’d love to hear about what you’re doing in 2013 and where you’ve been so far.

That’s all for now, ladies and gents. I’ll be back soon with stories from Vegas, a couple of product reviews, and a couple of giveaways all later this week!

Get excited!!!

How unfortunate that you came back to the lame snow!!! But I see you’re doing what I’ve been trying to do – appreciate the pretty parts in an effort to say bye to that negativity!
I’m obsessed with Vegas as you could probably tell from my frantic activity on your IG pics. Can’t wait to ehar your recap!

It’s taking me so long to get the recap done, it’s driving me nuts, haha. With my regular classes started and this weekend class on top of it, I haven’t had time to even finish editing photos. Hopefully it will be up sometime Monday.
