Don’t forget to check out my Raw Revolution Organic Live Food Bar giveaway. In the meantime, it’s that time of the month again to reveal what I received in my Foodie Pen Pals box! What is Foodie Pen Pals, you ask?
It was started by Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean and here is what she has to say about it:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
If you’re interested in participating for September, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by September 4th as pairings will be emailed on September 5th!
So there you have it, now time for the big reveal! This month I received a box of goodies from Danielle. She asked if I wanted healthy foods or treats and I opted for healthy food because I knew I would be just returning from our road trip when I got the box. She did a fantastic job of choosing snacks!
I was super excited when I opened the box because I hadn’t tried anything she included! I’m a big fan of nut butter, so it was great to find three varieties: Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Almond Butter, and Honey Peanut Butter. The fruit strips were amazing as well! They had a great texture and were just sweet enough. That they were all natural was an awesome bonus. The flavors in my box were grape, strawberry, cherry, and raspberry, each with 1/2 a serving of fruit.
The Clif Mojo bars were a great treat. Although slightly higher in calories than I normally have at snack time, I had them pre-workout for an extra boost, which was perfect thanks to the protein and organic ingredients.
So far I have only tried one variety of the Oat revolution instant oatmeal with flax, but it is great. I look forward to cooler weather coming soon so I can start my mornings with a warm breakfast. I may have to look into stocking up on more of this.
The Annie’s Bunny Fruit snacks are something I’ve wanted to try, but never actually bought. They are so good! They have a better texture than gummie bears and are so fruity! I could get hooked on these and not feel bad about it. I also really love the organic strawberry pops. With just 22 calories each, they might be a good way to satisfy a sweet tooth throughout the day. I saved the Werther’s for last because I adore the original caramels and was super excited to try the sugar free Caramel Apple flavor. I love the flavors of fall and these were spot on! I am hoping to practice enough self-control to save the rest of these until the air gets crisp and I start craving a full caramel apple.
If you don’t already participate in Foodie Pen Pals, I highly recommend it. This is only my second month, but every food I’ve received has been a wonderful surprise. Definitely check it out and sign up! You won’t be disappointed.
